A perversely dark comedy thriller by Dutch director Paul Verhoeven proved to be most surprising, and goes against all conventions in a most wonderful manner. If you are hoping for a bloody thriller like his Basic Instinct, we must disappoint you, but Elle is much more interesting. Isabelle Huppert after a terribly gruesome rape scene in the beginning of the film, goes on living life as usual. After her attacker starts stalking her, she decides to go after him.
