Why: Director/writer Cary Fukunaga was responsible for one of the biggest revelations in television with the first ‘True Detective’ season.  The Alienist  is his latest brainchild and looks promising as hell. Taking place in 1896 New York, the show (which is based on Caleb Carr’s best-selling novel of the same name) evolves around a serial killer who’s after young male protagonists.
