Why we didn’t like it: Irish writer/director delivered two infectious musical romcoms with ‘Once’ and ‘Begin Again’. The third around, it seems his trick is starting to wear out. A young, melancholy schoolboy forming a new wave band in the 1980’s…  We’ve simply seen too many coming-0f-age films taking place in that specific decade recently. That, and a script that felt way too rushed. Too much cliches, too ‘cute’. If you’re looking for something similar that is actually good, try The Man Who Loved Yngve.
