The Worst of 2016: Films That Didn’t Live Up To High Expectations

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Tim Burton)

Why we didn’t like it: OK, to be honest, we’re not really expecting that much anymore from a new Burton movie. Did he actually direct something worthwhile since 2004’s Big Fish? But still, in the 1990’s he was one of America’s most refreshing filmmakers and yeah, Ransom Riggs’ YA ‘Miss Peregrine’ series was solid. Burton seems to have lost it though. ‘Miss Peregrine’ is a giddy cacaphony of special effects, gothy curiosities and plot twists, but utterly failed to hold our attention.
