Dunkirk

(United Kingdom, directed by Christopher Nolan)

Everything Christopher Nolan touches, changes into gold. After a bunch of mega-budget mindfuck blockbusters, the American-British director thought it was time for something more straightforward. And it worked. The tale of the nearly impossible evacuation of 300.000 British soldiers from the beach of Dunkirk is one hell of a ride. Told from three perspectives (air, sea, land), Dunkirk is a brutal experience that is almost physical. This is as close as you can get to an actual battlefield.
