Tokyo Stories: Midnight Dinner
Japan, broadcasted by Netflix
Amidst all the loud and action-heavy TV shows we’re being served these days, it’s a relief to watch something so calm, gentle an zen-like as Tokyo Stories: Midnight Dinner. Taking place in a little restaurant that’s only open between 00.00 and 07.00 (and therefore attracts a beautiful bunch of odd-ball characters), this Japanese show is delightful slice of life. Quite often, not much is happening in terms of huge plot twists. Instead, Tokyo Stories portrays the lives of city dwellers in the most subtle and loving ways. Highly recommended for fans of Japanese cuisine too; my mouth was watering just looking at all the delicacies that were being served during the episodes.
