For anyone who thought Poldark was too kitschy and cheesy; try Taboo. Like Poldark, the series evolves around a long lost son (Tom Hardy at his finest) returning to England to inherit his father’s business. But that’s where the similarities end. Taking place in London in the year 1814, the series’ atmosphere and tone are as pitch black and Gothic as it can get. Draped in thousands shades of grey, Taboo is a patiently paced historical crime series full of conspiracies and betrayal.
