Synopsis
From writer and director Aaron Sorkin comes the crime drama, The Trial of the Chicago 7. With an all-star cast led by Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jeremy Strong, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Alex Sharp, Thomas Middleditch, Frank Langella, William Hurt, Michael Keaton, and Mark Rylance, the production has a tentative release date of September 25, 2020. Paramount Pictures is set to distribute the film in North America produced by DreamWorks Pictures, Cross Creek Pictures, Mark Platt Productions, and Amblin Partners. Sorkin wrote the script of the film back in 2007 and Steven Spielberg got involved as a producer, with the intention of directing the production. Spielberg broached the idea to Will Smith to star in the film. Spielberg also wanted to get Heath Ledger to play Tom Hayden, which eventually went to Redmayne. The Trial of the Chicago 7 is directed by Aaron Sorkin and was released on Oct 16th, 2020.
