There are numerous dialects of Chinese, many of them mutually incomprehensible. Mandarin in the most widely spoken and the official language of the People’s Republic of China. It is used in broadcast and film, and widely studied abroad. It is spoken by more people than any other language on earth. People often also distinguish between Simple Chinese and Traditional Chinese, the former being used most often, also on websites (in case you are looking to translate a website).
