Great new Baseball movies (2017) - Top Netflix & Cinema

The first great baseball movies that come to mind are those old flicks from the 80’s with Kevin Costner. When cinema was still un-ironic, and about telling uplifting tales to entertain and to celebrate the love for a certain topic. The baseball movie is anything but dead however. They are not always simply about the game, but very often about the spirit and communities surrounding the all-American sport. Or they become very modern, almost as a symbol of how times have changed, like in Moneyball, where the numbers are more important than the romance.
The Vore's Film staff selects the top best baseball movies of 2018 in cinema, DVD and Netflix. Are Richard Linklater, Michael Goldfine & David Boyd our new baseball genre directors? The main focus is on international art house & American and British indie cinema.

It does not get more American that baseball. Get a little taste of it here. Richard Linklater genuinely portrayed American life with 'Boyhood'. He is now going after the All-American baseball story.
