Alex Ross Perry (USA, 1984)

Next to Swanberg, this is another guy from the ‘mumblecore squad’ and the last one of them on this list. For example Andrew Bujalski or Kentucker Audley also were possible contenders for it. The American Alex Ross Perry stands out because his The Color Wheel (2011) was great, not to say awesome. The trailer of his new film, Listen up Phillip?, looks very promising, also very Wes Anderson-ish… The first one is in ‘stylish’ black-and-white and is about a brother and sister, just bugging each other sarcastically the whole time during a road-trip. Even though, the budget was clearly kept to a minimum, the result is very nice. The film finishes with a mind-dazzling climax.
