The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
Cinematography by Robert D. Yeoman
Directed by Wes Anderson
Wes Anderson’s latest has already been released in early 2014, and it got more than enough media coverage. Stylistically, Wes Anderson is probably the easiest of all modern directors to be identified as an auteur filmmaker. And even if you argue he is applying the same trick over and over again, you cannot help but appreciate the uniquely nostalgic films he makes. If anything, The Grand Budapest Hotel is his best so far in terms of cinematography, and it is a real visual treat. The DP on set was, as on all Anderson films, the talented Robert D. Yeoman who is strong enough to tolerate Anderson’s extreme perfectionism and obsession for precision and symmetry.
