Synopsis
This 2019 Chinese drama film is directed by Wang Xiaoshuai. The film portrays the journey of the two families with non-linear flashbacks explaining the flow of their lives. It speaks of familial love, getting married, bearing and raising children, collective dismissal because of economic reform, the ups and downs in life, grief and many social changes in China, bringing complicated life experiences. It was chosen to compete for the Golden Bear at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival. The film won the two main acting awards, with Wang Jingchun and Yong Mei winning the Silver Bear for Best Actor and Actress, respectively at the said award ceremony. So Long, My Son is directed by Xiaoshuai Wang and was released on Mar 22nd, 2019.
