3. John Ritter

John Ritter starred in the popular ABC series 8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter as the dad. However, on set he was struck by a heart attack. Ritter died a couple of hours later in the hospital, leaving the series fatherless. The show was cancelled two years later.
