The Green Knight

Writer and director David Lowery (The Old Man & The Gun) takes a beautifully somber and surreal approach to the classic story Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. The fantasy epic tells the tale of Sir Gawain and his desire for power. He believes he has the chance to become something more when given the chance to battle the Green Knight on Christmas. For winning the battle, however, the hero must venture back to the domain of the Green Knight a year later to face his demise. On his adventure, he encounters all manner of odd characters, including ghosts who beg for his help and thieves who aim to leave him for dead. All of this leads up to Gawain learning to accept his fate and come to terms with his own death. The film stars Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, and Ralph Ineson.
