Synopsis
Directed by Stefan Haupt, this docudrama story is set in Zurich during the 1950's. It is about a Ernst Ostertag, a French literature teacher in an all-girls school, who desperately falls in love with transvestite star Roby Rapp. They join a gay organization called 'Der Kries' (The Circle) based on a gay publication of the same name which is regarded as the pioneer of gay emancipation in Europe. They joined the organization at the time it reached its high point as well as its eventual downfall. It also focused on the internal conflict Ernst faces as he is torn between his conservative upbringing and his homosexuality. Der Kreis is directed by Stefan Haupt and was released on Oct 23rd, 2014.
