(United States, directed by Jim Cummings)
Films that are both laugh-out-loud hilarious AND deeply moving are a rare thing. ‘Thunder Road’, a low-budget indie film by newcomer Jim Cumming (who acted, directed and wrote the film himself) is one of those rarities. Evolving around a recently divorced police agent who has to get shit together after his mother died, this movie is truly unlike anything you’ve seen. Usually, you get what the maker is trying to achieve, when it comes to the tone, vibe and visual style of a film. With ‘Thunder Road’, Jim Cummings found a voice completely his own.
