Tokyo Vice

Based on the memoir Tokyo Vice: An American Reporter on the Police Beat in Japan by Jake Adelstein, this Japanese crime series focuses on the yakuza of the 1990s. Jake Adelstein is an American journalist who ventures to the country to investigate Tokyo’s criminal underworld and the subsequent corruption that exists within the Vice squad. But he may not be prepared for the truths that he unearths with the connections between criminals and cops. The series is written by J.T. Rogers (Oslo) and stars the talents of Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rachel Keller, Ella Rumpf, Rinko Kikuchi, Hideaki Itō, Show Kasamatsu, and Tomohisa Yamashita.
