Old English is not as ‘old’ as many of our other ancient languages. In fact, Old-English, also called Anglo-Saxon, was mainly spoken in the Early Middle ages in Modern-day England and Scotland. Nowadays Old English is very different from Modern English, and will be very difficult to understand for native English speakers. It’s more similar to German , as it Old English was closely related to Old German and Old Frisian. Here we have compiled two lists with Old English words & meanings translated into Modern English.
