Related: 13 most exotic and epic Adventure movies in 2019 (Netflix, Prime, Hulu & Cinema List) History is in the first place something that we should learn from, so not to make the same mistakes twice. Apparently we are incapable of doing that, but at the very least these movies can make us understand that we are indeed making the same mistake twice. But history cinema should not only about learning lessons. We love historical movies that don't always take it to seriously, and and creatively add new meaning to old stories. We also use this section to focus on movies that are based on true stories, and on the always interesting (but sometimes terribly cliche) biopics. I also want to take a little moment to address historical biographical movies, even the ones about modern history ones like Steve Jobs or Dallas Buyers Clubs, as we have listed quite a few below. Nobody ever seems to get bored of biopics as it’s still a typical genre that does well at the Oscars, and also sells a lot of movie tickets. From a more artistic perspective the biopic is a tricky genre. Telling the story of a person's life in 90 minutes is bound to become superficial and even dangerous at times when certain less applaudable aspects of controversial figures takes a backseat. A distorted image of someone may be the result. On the other hand, biopics that wish to stay true to real evens might become uninspiring and boring. We are quite glad about a new trend that is becoming the norm in biopic filmmaking - instead of telling a life story, filmmakers zoom in on a specific period of time or event (it could even be a couple of hours), and leave it at that. The Steve Jobs film from 2015 is a great example.
